Opportunities for graduate students at National Conference for Agribusiness
Agricultural economics graduate students can network with industry professionals by helping at the National Conference for Agribusiness, set for Nov. 18-19, 2008, at the Purdue Memorial Union. This year’s conference features results from the Large Commercial Producer Survey, which gives insight to trends and issues shaping the industry and allows agribusiness to better understand commercial farming operations. For information on how you can get involved, contact Aissa Good at aissa@purdue.edu or stop by KRAN 781.

News from ICEE:

Econ Camp:  The Indiana Council for Economics Education (ICEE) held two Econ Camps this year.  These popular programs are designed to improve the knowledge and teaching skills of high school economics teachers.  Professors Larry DeBoer, Otto Doering, and Phil Abbott made excellent presentations on the influence of China in the world economy and the current financial crisis.  In all, 51 teachers took part - an all time high.

One teacher said,  "I always leave Econ Camp with a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for teaching economics…And it’s the ICEE’s programs that really ignite this enthusiasm."  Thank you, AGECON colleagues, for making this such a successful program.

The Indiana Council for Economic Education recently published its Hoosier Economist on-line newsletter, which outlines current programs and activities in K-12 economic and financial education.  Check it out!  (http://www.econed-in.org/PDF/HEFall08.pdf)
